Retail Subfloor Repair and Floor Leveling in Uniondale, NY
We were called into a retail tenant space in Uniondale, NY because the floor wasn’t even close to workable for the next flooring step. This wasn’t a little dip. One side of the area sat about 7 inches lower than the other over roughly a 20-foot run, and the plywood in that section was shot.
Instead of stacking material on top and burying the problem, we opened the floor, dealt with what was underneath, and rebuilt the subfloor so the space could move forward.
What we found
The floor was out of level by about 3 degrees through the repair area. The plywood had decayed, so the fix had to start below the surface. Once the bad sheets were out, we had access to the framing and could tighten up the floor system where it needed it.
Work completed
- Opened up the affected floor area inside the tenant space
- Removed decayed plywood in the repair zone
- Accessed the framing and reinforced it
- Sistered framing members in the affected section
- Installed new plywood subfloor panels
- Left the space at the plywood substrate stage for separate finish flooring
