Flooring and stair work meet in one of the most visible parts of a home. The floor line, stair opening, landing, rails, and walking surfaces all need to feel like one finished area. On this job, the rough work came first so the finished materials were not fighting uneven substrate, leftover demolition, or carpentry that should have been handled earlier.
The stair and landing area required steady coordination. Substrate work had to be completed before the oak flooring went down, and the stair and banister work had to be handled carefully around the finished walking surfaces. Keeping the sequence tight reduced unnecessary handling around completed areas and made the transitions cleaner from one part of the space to the next.

Project Notes
The order of work mattered on this remodel. Demolition came first, followed by substrate preparation and the prefinished oak flooring installation. Once finished flooring is installed, nearby carpentry has to be handled with care, especially around stair openings, landings, rails, and normal traffic paths through the house.
The banister work was part of the same interior sequence rather than a loose add-on at the end. Treating the stairs, rail areas, and wood flooring as one connected job kept the work moving in a more controlled way and helped the finished surfaces meet cleanly.
Basic job control was part of the work as well. Debris from demolition had to be managed, materials had to be staged around the stair area, and completed surfaces needed protection while the remaining carpentry was finished.
