Getting it Done: The 12-Inch Utility Brick Fix
This wasn’t your average patch job. We took a “bottom-up” approach to make sure this wall was actually fixed, not just covered up:

Phase 1: Demolition. We started by tearing out the old, cracked brickwork. Then we repaired and added to the footing that gave way

Phase 2: The Material Hunt. This was the toughest part. The building uses a specific 12-inch utility brick that you just can’t find at a local stone yard anymore. It took some serious legwork, but we tracked them down so the new wall would match the adjacent brick walls almost perfectly.

Phase 3: Scaffolding. Safety first. We built out a solid scaffolding tower to make sure we could reach the top of the wall and work comfortably without any shortcuts.

Phase 4: Bricklaying & Completion. With the right bricks in hand, our guys got to work laying them in. Steel straps were nailed to the the CMU backing. We wrapped it up by cleaning the site and making sure the new section was solid, watertight, and looked like it belonged there from day one.
